Northport, New York 11768 Dear Elsa, The National Dance Education Organization and I congratulate you and the Posey School on celebrating fifty years of providing splendid dance education experiences for all who walked through the portals of your school. You began as a community school and grew into an arts academy. Throughout the years, you nurtured the artistic experience through creative process, performance, and critical response. You placed these processes within historical, cultural and interdisciplinary contexts in both teaching and learning. You provided richer educational experiences for children long before any national standards for dance education were written for this country. Throughout all, you provided sound pedagogical and educational foundations and became a role model for students and peers alike. You were eager to share, learn and improve teaching and learning in dance arts education. Thus, you helped shape dance education pedagogy and policy over five decades. Today, you lead in providing and defining quallity dance arts education at community, state and national levels. It has been an honor to serve with you over the years. Our friendship and professional work travels through decades. Congratulations! As Executive Director of the NDEO, I thank you on behalf of all the children and dance educators for the magnificent contributions you have made to our profession. We are indeed grateful. Please use the enclosed donation to continue your excellent work in quality dance arts education as you pass the torch to the next generation. It is a mighty generation as we in NDEO national office know from the fabulous interns we too sponsor each year in dance arts education. Our country is rich in this very precious resource.
